May 2026

Dear Bergen Catholic Community,

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the many blessings that come with being part of the Bergen Catholic Brotherhood.

At BC, May is an exciting month filled with school-wide celebrations and meaningful traditions. On Friday, May 1, we celebrated Religious Brothers' Day. We are blessed to have four Brothers living on campus, with three actively involved in our Campus Ministry programs while also supporting our students in the classroom and throughout our Guidance Department. On Tuesday, May 5, we gathered as a school community to celebrate the Feast Day of our Founder, Blessed Edmund Rice. During the Mass, the Brothers renewed their vows, and Brother Ray Verycrussye shared a beautiful reflection on the life of Edmund Rice and his lasting impact on the education of the poor in Waterford, Ireland.

I am proud to share some recent accomplishments with you and to thank you for your support:

Following graduation, members of the Class of 2026 will matriculate to an outstanding group of colleges and universities, including Ivy League and Tier-1 institutions. Six members of the class will attend service academies, with three heading to the United States Military Academy. As demand for skilled labor continues to grow, students will pursue careers through trade schools and vocational programs.

Our enrollment is exceptionally strong. The incoming Class of 2030 exceeds 200 students — a tremendous milestone as we continue to position Bergen Catholic as the premier Catholic high school in New Jersey. We are especially proud of this accomplishment, given the highly competitive landscape of Catholic, independent, public, and free-tuition schools throughout Bergen County. I am deeply grateful to our Admissions Team, along with the faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of BC, who make our Open Houses and Crusader-for-a-Day visits so successful and impactful for prospective families.

Equally exciting was the tremendous success of our recent Crusader Giving Day. Thanks to the effort of our Advancement Team and the extraordinary generosity of our alumni, parents, families, and friends, Bergen Catholic raised more than $600,000 in support of our mission. This remarkable achievement speaks volumes about the passion and commitment our community continues to show toward ensuring Bergen Catholic remains a premier Catholic high school for young men.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our fundraising efforts throughout the year. Your continued support allows us to strengthen our academic programs, enhance Campus Ministry initiatives, expand opportunities in the arts and athletics, invest in our facilities, and grow our Teacher Endowment. Most importantly, your generosity provides transformational experiences for our students and helps shape the next generation of Crusader gentlemen and leaders.

Bergen Catholic's future is bright because of the loyalty, generosity, and dedication of alumni like you. Thank you for believing in our mission and for continuing to support the next generation of Crusaders.

Warm regards,

Dr. Brian Mahoney

President
